Posting, Subscribing, and Tagging

Interesting post from Fred Wilson who breaks down the actions people apply to their blogs.

"Posting, Subscribing, and Tagging.  These are the three essential and fundamental functions and they are the building blocks for all the different kinds of blogging."

I think we're only seeing the beginning of a larger explosion in interactivity and that these actions are a just the tip of the iceberg.  This is definitely a more digestible hierarchy for understanding how people bahave with content.  And as we rope in the less technically inclined user base into a more engaged online experience the industry must find ways to simplify what people can do with content.

For example, is there a way to explain to my mother why tagging is going to make her life better?  I guess the tools will prove it first.  And I suppose nobody ever explained to her why an operating system was going to make her life better, either.
